Patterns:
 

A Pattern or Tul is a series of fundamental movements, most of which either represent attack or defence techniques against an imaginary opponent, set to a fixed and logical sequence.

 

By practicing patterns the student performs many fundamental movements in series, develops sparring techniques, improves flexibility, masters body shifting and breath control, and develops fluid movement, all essential components of TaeKwon-Do
