Colour Belt Grading
On Monday 19th December our last event of the year was a colour belt grading held in Mr McNairns
new gym at Montrose. Some of the students who graded are pictured below in Mr McNairns new premesies, results as follows:

North East Challenge
Cup 2011
Northern TaeKwon-Do Academies held the 2nd annual North East Challenge Cup on Sunday 27th
November at the Saltire Leisure Center, Arbroath. The event, once again, was a huge success with over 270 competitors attending.
Eight students from the school attended winning one silver and two bronze medals between them. Some pictures from the

West
Lothian Open 2011 Congratulations to Phill Ingham who was
successful in the 2011 West Lothian Open tournament held in Blackburn West Lothian. In only his second competitive event
Phill secured a Gold medal in the Senior White Belt patterns division and a hard fought Bronze medal in the Senior White -
Green Belt Heavyweight sparring division. Phill is pictured below with his medals.
TaeKwon-Do UK, Goodwill Championships 2011.
On Saturday 21st May 2011 we attended the TaeKwon-Do UK Goodwill
Championships in Grangemouth. The tournament was attended by close to 500 competitors from all over the UK. Once again the
Forfar team performed well returning with 3 medals from 5 entrants.

ITF SCOTLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

The above championships were held in Glasgow on Sunday
13th February with over 240 competitors attending. Four of our students made the Journey and once again put in
a sterling performance with Mike Stewart (1st Kup) acquitting himself extremely well in his first
taste of action in the Blackbelt light weight sparring division.
The results were:
Mike Stewart: Silver Medal (Red Belt Senior Patterns) and Bronze Medal (Senior Red/Black Lightweight Sparring)
Sophie Donaldson: Gold Medal (13-17 year old Special Technique) and
Bronze Medal (13-17 year old Blue Belt Patterns)
Calum Wight: Gold Medal (under 9 Blue Belt patterns) and Silver Medal (Under 9 135-145cm Sparring)
Unfortunately our fourth
competitor, Liam Rattray did not secure a medal position however once again, Liam put in a strong performance and can be very
proud of his efforts.

Student Awards
Night, Friday 18th February 2011
On Friday 18th February the school took part in a night of celebration
and dancing in recognition of student achievements in 2010. The event was hosted by Mr David McNairn (6th Degree) and Mr Mark
Boydell (4th Degree) and was attended by 170 TaeKwon-Do students from the Angus / Kincardine area.
VIP guests
were Master Gordon Wallace (7th Degree) and his wife Mrs Jacqui Wallace (2nd Degree) and all the way from London Mr James
Davies (3rd Degree) and his wife Nicki. On behalf of Forfar School of TaeKwon-Do I would like to thank our hosts for a fantastic
evening.

COLOUR BELT GRADING:
On
Monday 14th December we held our last colour belt grading of the year, which was once again conducted by Mr David McNairn
(6th Degree). This was our first grading to be held in Forfar and our thanks go to Mr McNairn for affording us this opportunity.

WEST LOTHIAN OPEN
On Saturday 27th November Sophie Donaldson and Liam Rattray braved
the wintry conditions and travelled to Blackburn West Lothian to compete in the above event. There efforts were rewarded with
an impressive haul of 5 medals between the two of them. This completes a fantastic year for Sophie and Liam who are now regulars
on the tournament circuit each competing in 5 tournaments this year and winning a total of 15 medals between them.

NORTH EAST
CHALLENGE CUP 20th September 2010
The inaugural North East Challenge
Cup was held in Montrose Sport Center on Sunday 20th September 2010. Over 200 competitors attended the event from all over
Scotland and from various different TaeKwon-Do associations. A team of six travelled from Forfar, for some it was their first
tournament for others there first time in a new age category. Again all of the Forfar team acquitted themselves well returning
with 1 x Gold, 2 x Silver and 1 x Bronze, the highlight being an all Forfar final between Sophie Donaldson and Liam Rattray
in the Blue belt 13-17 year old pattern division.

TaeKwon-Do Scotland - ITF
The TKD Scotland - ITF Scottish Championships were held on Sunday 20th June, at Ballahouston
Sport Center, Glasgow. Four students from Forfar School of TaeKwon-Do travelled to the event and again delivered a great result.
Each one of the four were successful in securing medal positions, results :

& Bronze Medal Senior Red Belt Sparring.
Liam Rattray – Gold Medal 13- 17 Years Blue Belt Patterns.

GTUK GOODWILL CHAMPIONSHIP &
INTERNATIONAL SHIELD
We would like to thank Mr Condie (IV Degree) for extending us the invitation
to compete at the above event.
6 Students from the school entered this tournament, which turned out to be a truly
international event with competitors from as far a field as USA and Hong Kong attending. Over the 2 days of competition more
than 700 competitors gave their all to contribute to a first class tournament. Forfar students again did themselves and the
school proud with some strong performances, even though some were unlucky to just miss out on medal positions. Highlight of
the 2 days was the demonstration by the WTA demonstration team which left the audience amazed by their speed, agility and
acurracy.
Pictured below are the 6 students, with Master Gordon Wallace (VII Degree) and the medal winners which
include Mr Ingram, who dusted down his tournament dobok to compete in the Veterans BlackBelt Division.

CHEIL ROMBOUT
SEMINAR, Sunday 18th OCTOBER 2009
On Sunday 18th October Mr Ingram, Mike Stewart and Jamie Stewart attended
a seminar with Mr Cheil Rombout (VI Degree & Dutch National Coach).
The seminar covered sparring drills, flexibility, improving speed and kicking technique.

Seminar with 1st Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha - 1st March 2009
On Sunday 1st March 2009, Mr Mark Hutton VI Degree
invited First Grand Master Rhee Ki Ha, 9th Degree to conduct a seminar at has own gym in East Kilbride. FGM Rhee Ki Ha was
the pioneering Master of Taekwon-Do in the UK and is a unique figure in our Scottish Taekwon-Do
history. Therefore it was a privilege to be offered the opportunity to attend this unique event and I would like
to thank Mr Hutton, for hosting the event and Master Wallace for securing me a much sought after place at the seminar.
It was a day which I will always remember, not only for the hospitality and camaraderie but for the time FGM Rhee
spent sharing his TaeKwon-Do knowledge, experiences with us and for inspiring all who attended.
